About me

As a therapist, my mission is to create socially conscious healing spaces that support development and growth. I am dedicated to promoting wellbeing, recognizing the importance of diverse narratives and lived experiences. I aim to generate a ripple effect of positive impacts and outcomes through individual or group sessions.

My Approach

My approach to counselling, supervision and training is represented as a waypoint. In my practice and research I have identified waypoints as relational encounters where people experience transitional moments.

In these moments, safe spaces are generated with the potential to evaluate navigational choices, tackle adversity and build resources for next steps.

My background is in practical mental health work with over four decades of experience as a mental health nurse, fifteen years in higher education, and currently working in therapeutic counselling, mental health promotion and wellbeing training.

Spending a life in education I have an extensive academic portfolio, holding a degree in English Literature, an MSc in Mental Health Studies, and a Doctorate in Education. My doctoral thesis focuses on the narrative study of relational spirituality in women's mental health recovery. Additionally, I have an advanced counselling diploma, a postgraduate certificate in clinical supervision, a postgraduate diploma in higher education teaching, a certificate in narrative therapy, and I am a certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor.

My Partnership Work

I have decades of experience working with large organizations, including statutory health and educational institutions, local boroughs, and charities. As a Mental Health First Aid Instructor, I have conducted training in the London boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark and the Church of England. Additionally, I provide Restorative Supervision with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal College of Nursing. I founded and lead the Wellbeing and Counselling Network for the Diocese of Rochester, where I provided training, consultancy, and staff counselling services.
